as did the mother of Jeffrey pray for him,
though it was Jeffrey’s heart that saved Maren.

Maren prayed for Richard to choose her,
Tim prayed for Maren to choose him,
even as Richard prayed for them both.

Maren prayed to die even as
Charles prayed for her to live,
but only one could have their wish.
