When in Pensacola…
…do as the Pensacolians do—
wearing trunks with flip-flops;
bikini tops under tank tops.
Getting drunk off the humid air,
sober off the salt air.
Eating fried chicken sound side,
sun browning surf side,
drowning,
drenched in the languor of
terracotta-tinged Indian summer.
